Imagination.

My topic is mostly about the effects of therapy on children using art. I chose this topic vaguely, wanting to become an art therapist for troubled youth. I chose this career path because of events that had happened to my brother.

I have a twin brother named Ryan. Ryan is different from other kids. He's tall, pasty white, bright red hair, blue eyes, and blonde eyebrows, simply Irish. I am one of the few people of my family that doesn't have red hair. All through out school, Ryan was tragically bullied. In 2012 Ryan had his second overdose. It was
bad to the point that he had to get his stomach flushed and you could see the heart beating out of his chest. He's not a drug addict, but rather a depressed person. In fact he hasn't even touched a drug. All of his overdoses have been suicide attempts.

Being a twin you hear rumors about twins having ESP (http://multiples.about.com/od/funfacts/a/twintelepathy.htm), or sharing emotions. The day his overdose occurred at the same time. I started feeling a little dizzy. I was getting on the max (light rail) back home from school, part of my everyday routine. And got on the green line to Clackamas, rather than the blue to Hillsboro. I ended up getting lost, although I eventually found my way home. Later that night I told my Mom about the mishaps that I had experienced that day. I eventually asked why Ryan didn't come down for dinner, later that night we had found him sleeping. When we awoke him he couldn't walk straight, and stumbled down the stairs. Frightened, we had known what had happened, for it wasn't his first overdose. We rushed him to the hospital where he stayed in urgent care for a whole month.

I was 16 and had known that I wanted to become a therapist to help troubled youth to prevent events like this from happening. I want to eventually start my own organization to give more help to youth than what is available today. If troubled adolescents can create a larger imagination through art, I believe that can cure a lot of depression found in youth. I think of myself as a sketch artist and hope that I can wrap art and psychology together. I have studied a lot about bullying, and also might want to study politics. I can only dream of creating stricter laws for public schools.

I plan on studying art therapy only to pursue my dream of becoming one.
